Today was a fun but loooong day for all. Asher had Seamus and Ari spend the night. He, his friends, and Ezra slept int he tent outside. When I went to bed at 1, they (minus a sleeping Asher) were still chatting away. They literally for up at the crack of dawn- 5:30ish!
David woke me at 2:30 because he couldn't sleep. He had stomach pains. Don't know why. It just happens. Poor guy. Finally, he gas up trying to sleep last night and watched Family Guy on his laptop. All night...
But, we all survived. no meltdowns...and it was a rather enjoyable day. I actually took the kids to th festival and we watched and participated in a Mad Science show. Great stuff with dry ice. The kids were totally awed. Then the rest of their day was spent rotating from the Wii to the pool and back again....food in between. And I entertained the parents. I actually sat outside with my iced coffee and knitting for about an hour. It was so relaxing. Hadn't really done that all summer!
David had a new friend come over- Seth. Seth just turned 13 and had moved to the area last year. He want to learn to Yoyo, and I hooked him up with David. I met his mm through the homeschooling group.
Speaking of which, I am still struggling over trying to find the right curriculum, and trying not to go crazy deciding on what to get. I have almost all of David's mapped out, but not his history. I can't wait to start his English/writing: It's called One Year Adventure Novel. Need I say more? And he'll be in Alg 2 for math, and Bio for science. All this is independent and online. As it should be at his age. I want him self paced with goals set each week. We als got him his clubs for golf. Curious to see how that pans out. And, I just signed him up for a Lit class on SKYPE. How cool is that? Students worldwide....Last, we'll be using Rosetta Stone- I'd like him to start Latin, and continue Hebrew. He has almost finished LEvel 1 Hebrew so that's a plus for high school.
As for Asher, we are doing Susan Bauer: Writing with Skill. It looks pretty basic, not too hard but covering all aras of writing. I also plan on having him start pre-alg. That's as far as I've gone! Maybe earth science? Or something with Ezra.
Ezra- Kahn Academy and Dreambox for math. That's all I can think of. MAgic School Bus science. And I'd really like to get him this LEGO pulley and cars set but it's $200! I might bite the bullet. I do think he's really like it and learn so much from it. BTW, is award form camp this week: Independent Ezra. Did they understand him, or what!!!
